The clifftop Belmond Miraflores Park is a thing to behold. Perched above the Pacific Ocean, the hotel’s glass-and-mirrors exterior reflects the lush greenery surrounding it and the glimmering waves beyond. The hotel resides in the posh neighbourhood of Miraflores – one of the most affluent areas in Lima – known for its upscale dining and nightlife.

Within the hotel, rooms are simple but elegant with classic Peruvian accents completing the refined-but-laid-back feel. Marble bathrooms have enormous bathtubs that come with one of the hotel’s cheekiest perks – a bath butler, who will draw you the perfect bath (perfumed salts, rose petals and candles included). If you aren’t in a top-floor Presidential Suite, fear not; you can still see the water (ideally with a drink in hand) from the resort’s rooftop infinity pool. Swim a few laps, take a yoga or meditation class, or workout in the well-appointed fitness centre. If you need a little extra motivation, you can hire one of the hotel’s trainers to lead you on a jog.

The 11th-floor Observatory Restaurant offers more of those Pacific vistas, which you can take in while enjoying a lavish breakfast spread. Have a fresh-baked pastry there, or come back later to watch the sunset – the restaurant faces west and views (yet again) stun. Asian-Peruvian cuisine takes centre stage at Tragaluz, but the restaurant also dabbles in Mediterranean and international dishes. Have a drink before dinner on the restaurant’s terrace, or at Belo Bar; order a pisco sour – it’s the national drink.

Despite feeling decidedly grown-up, the hotel warmly welcomes children with plenty of thoughtful touches to keep them happy and engaged. Adults are equally well entertained: the chic Larcomar shopping centre is a short walk away, and Miraflores has a lively assortment of nightclubs and bars to explore. Grab one of the hotel’s complimentary bikes and go for a ride through the neighbourhood; be sure also to stop and peek at the hotel’s turtle pond.

Back at Belmond, Zest Spa is an indulgent option offering everything from mother & daughter packages to chocolate and pearl wraps (with a focus on organic indigenous ingredients).
