Part of the fifty-hectare wonderland that is Forte Village Resort, the hotel Il Castello is a stand-out in its own right. After a thorough facelift in 2016, the hotel is now more luxurious than ever, and its enviable location close to the sea means gorgeous views, easy beach access and an atmosphere of being in paradise.
Though guests staying at the hotel have access to the resort's impressive collection of amenities, Il Castillo guests enjoy some exclusive perks of their own, not least of which is a gorgeous heated infinity pool that gazes out over the Mediterranean. Though all accommodations are undeniably elegant, there is a fair bit of variety as far as interior design is concerned.
The entry-level Superior Rooms, for example, are done up in a calm monochromatic palette of whites and soft greys, while the Executive Mare option is bolder and artsier, with enormous tufted white leather headboards and black exposed beams contrasting with crisp white walls. Thankfully, all accommodations have private balconies for soaking in the sun and the views; snag a room with a view of the sea if you can.
The only issue with dining at the resort is knowing where to start. Cuisines from all over the world are highlighted in more than a dozen restaurants, and the jewel of the lot is Belvedere. Chef Antonello Arrus oversees the creation of the restaurant's traditional Italian and Sardinian dishes which are brought to new heights with his signature dash of creativity. For something entirely different, head to Ristorante Brasiliano for some charcoal-grilled meat, or to Beachcomber by Heinz Beck for fresh seafood and views of the water.
A dazzling array of amenities means that guests can make their days highly customisable, filling them with as much – or as little – activity as they desire. The resort is a nightlife and shopping destination unto itself, featuring some of fashion’s biggest names like Balenciaga and Givenchy alongside a nightclub that stays lively every night of the week. Opportunities to get active and explore the outdoors are plentiful, with a multitude of sports academies, bike trails and regulation size courts to choose from. When it comes time for something a little bit more relaxing, Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa will have you covered.
