In 1995, famous author Patricia Highsmith (Helen Mirren) lives a secluded life in her Ticino home. One day, a young publishing executive named Edward Ridgeway (Alden Ehrenreich) arrives from New York to persuade her to write one last novel: another book about her legendary character Tom Ripley. But she sets one condition. Ridgeway must help her devise the perfect murder. What begins as a literary game in Ticino develops into a gripping thriller set in various locations, including Switzerland – with a magnificent Helen Mirren in the lead role.
The Zürich Film Festival provides a platform for the most promising filmmakers from around the globe. It aims to promote exchange between emerging directors, successful film workers, the film industry, and the general public. Every autumn, the ZFF presents the year’s greatest discoveries and most anticipated films.
The Zürich Film Festival began in October 2005 and became firmly established within the national and international festival landscape within a very short period of time. The festival has continued to grow rapidly since that inaugural edition – in 2019, the ZFF attracted approximately 117,000 cinema-goers as well as more than 1,500 accredited journalists and media professionals from around the world.
