Xigera Safari Lodge
About the hotel
"A magnificent 12-suite getaway set within the Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera Safari Lodge boasts art-filled accommodations, imaginative dining and a spectacular location overlooking the floodplains."
As far as design goes, this is not your average safari lodge – in fact, it's far from it. The Tollman family worked closely with the Southern Guild gallery to create spaces that showcase the talent of dozens of contemporary African artists and crafters – over 70, to be exact. The resulting spaces are gallery-esque sanctuaries, resplendent with one-of-a-kind pieces paired with faultless interior design – and there are just 12 suites in total. Each of the 12 rests on raised stilts, so as not to impact the movement of wildlife and water below, and they are all spread across two islands to prioritise privacy... Show more

Each of the 12 rests on raised stilts, so as not to impact the movement of wildlife and water below, and they are all spread across two islands to prioritise privacy and a sense of wilderness for the guests. Within, the spaces utilise an abundance of gorgeous natural wood and organic materials to complement the artistic pieces, and all feature generously sized furnished decks from which to watch the world go by. For a truly unforgettable stay, venture to the Baobab Treehouse, which is a remarkable, sculptural treehouse that rises 10 metres above the floodplain. Set a kilometre away from the lodge, the treehouse offers a singular stay under the stars.
Executive Chef Ziyaad Brown helms the culinary scene at Xigera, which utilises a creative reimagining of farm-to-table fare. Menus evolve with the seasons based on the availability of wild-harvested ingredients and the bounty of local farmers. The ever-changing experience is highly customisable, featuring delights both local and internationally inspired, with a robust inclusion of plant-forward offerings. Complementing that is the lodge’s wine cellar, which boasts an excellent selection of fine wines and champagnes.
The lodge’s mission of sustainability includes a state-of-the-art solar energy centre and a reverse osmosis treatment plant, which guests can tour should they feel so inclined. Benefiting from this low-impact ethos is the majestic surrounding natural world and wildlife, which guests can experience in a wide range of ways. Safaris at Xigera come in many forms and can be enjoyed by land, sea or air. You might opt for a private game drive, a helicopter adventure with a bird’s eye view over the bush or canoe excursions that provide a unique perspective. There are also plenty of opportunities for stargazing, art and design tours, photography excursions and more.
