Few places in Doha have embraced NYC’s panache as the W Doha has done, and with an added blend of local flair, style, super-effective service, award-winning restaurants, nightclubs and some smashing facilities, a stay here will be memorable, for sure. Located in the diplomatic area, the hotel is about a 20-minute drive from the airport, and nothing in Doha, really, is all that far away. Set foot within the lobby, and you’ll feel a sure sense of adventure come over you. The lobby ceiling is covered in decorative blue and gold orbs that hang from the ceiling, and there are two huge bears (also decorative) that are posed playing by the check-in desk. Typical for this region, a big lobby is important, and the seating areas of hot pink and navy chairs and royal blue carpets create a wonderful effect.

With nearly 300 rooms and suites (there are residences as well), you’ll have everything you could want in the entry-level category like a Nespresso machine, a big comfy bed with sateen covers in rich colours, 400 thread-count sheets, a desk and a seating area, and a spa-like bathroom with a separate tub, rainfall shower and Bliss amenities. If you can’t live without a sea view, you’ll have to upgrade to a suite on a higher floor, something we encourage if you can manage the splurge; you’ll get a swing chair that hangs from the ceiling and a dining area as well as breakfast included in the rate.

Breakfast is just one of the meals you won’t want to miss here, starting with a bite at the W Cafe from 6 AM. For something a little more substantial, head to Market by Jean-Georges, chef Chef Vongerichten’s take on a traditional souq in style and where breakfast is elaborate and the food the rest of the day is Arabic and continental in style. Asian, healthy food is served at the Spice Market, a beautiful venue with red lanterns and chairs. Italian and Peruvian restaurants are also open for lunch and dinner offering even more variety. Post-meal, head to WHAM where live music and even livelier cocktails are on offer till the wee hours every night.

The hotel has a Sisley Paris Spa on the premises, as well as another spa offering different treatments as well as hair and nail services to ensure you’re looking your best. You could go for a swim in the pool or take a walk around the vicinity which is safe and very clean, but the heat will usually deter you, in which case the gym is pretty fabulous; fitness classes are offered for a fee.
