Officially debuted in September of 2024, The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa made waves as the island’s first new resort since 2017. Once home to Le Méridien Bora Bora, the property underwent a massive, all-encompassing overhaul to evolve into its current form. Today, the resort is a fresh, contemporary escape in a location that remains as to-die-for as it always has been.

Polynesian tradition combines with modern aesthetics to create The Westin’s 142 accommodations, which come in the form of bungalows and villas set either overwater or on the pretty beach. Beneath thatched roofs and vaulted ceilings, interiors are bright, airy, and set in a chic colour scheme that feels like the perfect iteration of contemporary coastal. Shades of white and turquoise predominate, with plenty of natural wood and other organic accents adding texture and depth to the spaces. All feature private outdoor areas, many also boast plunge pools and — while you’d be hard-pressed to find a bad view anywhere — those accommodations with views of the mountain Otemanu are certainly the most coveted stays at the resort.

Local flavours and ingredients take centre stage in The Westin’s culinary scene, which consists of a total of half a dozen bars and restaurants. For the first meal of the day or the last one, Tipanier serves vibrant French Polynesian fare and features traditional shows on Mondays and Thursdays. Perched on the lagoon is the resort’s signature restaurant, Maere, which employs a vibrant approach that draws inspiration from multiple cuisines and a menu that changes nightly. Beachside fine dining can be found at Varavara, where steaks and seafood are the highlight. The trio of restaurants are complemented by the same number of bars, all of which feature spectacular views. Te Ava is the poolside option, Honu Tiki is perfect for a frozen drink with your toes in the sand, and ‘O’A is a dramatic spot from which to enjoy epic sunsets and exceptional Otemanu views.

Wellness amenities at the resort are top-notch, beginning with the aptly named, sanctuary-esque Heavenly Spa.
