Reopened in 2025 as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, The Talbott Chicago is back – and better than ever. Set within a 1920s building, The Talbott closed its doors for three years while interiors were fully reimagined by Studio 11 Design. Today, it has been revitalised from top to toe with an aesthetic that marries contemporary luxury with the landmark history of the building. The hotel itself is a stand-out, but its location is even more so: The Talbott is just steps away from the iconic Michigan Avenue, which – thanks to its upscale shopping, vibrant gastronomy and fashionable nightlife – might just be Chicago’s most famous street.

Within, guestrooms are pleasantly large (by Chicago standards, anyway) and are done up in a sophisticated palette of neutral shades punctuated by bold bursts of colour here and there: think scarlet lounge chairs in the living spaces and emerald tiles in the bathrooms. Decor is restrained but well-executed: we like the framed modern art prints and punchy throw pillows. Little nods to the building’s twentieth-century roots are evident in tasteful vintage accents here and there, and plenty of natural light streams in from large windows.

Mediterranean flavours take centre stage at LAUREL, the hotel’s restaurant. Open for all meals of the day, this is a superb spot for vibrant Greek food and good drinks. If the weather’s nice, be sure to dine out on the pretty patio.

There’s unfortunately no spa on-site at the hotel (though you’ll have no trouble finding one elsewhere), but there is a brand-new fitness centre which overlooks Delaware Street and is kitted out with state-of-the-art gear. If you’re looking to get your steps in, you’ll have no problem doing so, as The Talbott is in a prime location for exploring some of the best Chicago has to offer. Michigan Avenue is practically on its doorstep, and attractions like the John Hancock Observatory and Museum of Contemporary Art are also within walking distance. If you wish to venture further or just need a break from all the walking, the hotel is just five minutes away from Chicago’s public transportation system, which will whisk you away to wherever your heart desires.
