Stunning, chic and Asian-inspired, it’s a radical departure from the contemporary norm of Collins Ave, and the unusual inspiration, design and layout of the guest rooms (all suites) are equally different. Make some time to have a massage or body wrap in the indulgent spa, but first, the beach beckons. The daybeds are so comfortable you’ll probably stay all day, which is fine as The Setai Beach Kitchen with its solar-powered culinary station will provide you with all the sustenance and libation you need for the day. And if you don’t like the feeling of sand between your toes, don’t worry, there are three swimming pools here: lap, lounge and family varieties, all very well attended; you’ll never want for anything like towels, sunscreen or an icy Mai Tai.
And, of note, if you’re here on a Sunday, the hotel hosts one of the city’s best jazz brunches at Jaya – with free-flowing Roederer Champagne – so don’t miss that, and book early to get the best table. There’s also an outdoor bar, Miami style, a great place to while away a few hours people watching and comparing muumuus and thongs (the kind you wear on your feet, of course). If yours don’t match up, the Setai Gallery Shops may have something suitable, along with some new baubles from Asprey and sunnies from Lavish Eyewear.
