The luxurious, centrally located Ritz-Carlton, Budapest is a quick walk away from St. Stephen’s Basilica and the main street of Andrássy út. The Danube and Elizabeth Square are also a few blocks away on foot and can be admired from some of the rooms; if spectacular views are a dealbreaker for you, opt for a room on a higher floor – or a suite with a balcony if you feel like splurging.

The building itself is classically elegant and dates back to the early 20th century. Furnishings inside reflect the exterior, although the modern amenities and features – along with the superb service – make sure the hotel is very much on top of its game. Comfortable sofas, locally inspired artwork, fresh flowers everywhere and the blue and white swirls of the carpeting (representing the Danube) make the hotel very welcoming from the moment you walk through the door.

Located on the eighth floor, they’re the same size and style as those in the Deluxe category, yet they also offer access to the Club Lounge where breakfast is included (with an omelette station) as are drinks in the evening along with copious hors d'oeuvres offerings. Club rooms also have small balconies – sightseeing made simple. Regardless, all rooms and suites in the hotel are decorated in soft shades of beige and grey and have feather beds, marble bathrooms and Nespresso machines.

Come evening (or earlier) stop at the Kupola Bar for a glass of Tokaj and enjoy the live piano music. Dinner at the DSK Wine & Grill can be enjoyed inside or on the terrace if the weather holds up. And if you’re here on a weekend, don’t miss the Gin & Jazz Brunch in the Kupola Lounge underneath the room’s impressive glass dome.

The spa and very slick fitness centre (with a sexy swimming pool set under a glass roof) were opened in 2016. Basics like facials and massages are possible, but to truly experience the best on offer, opt for one of the spa’s immersive therapies – like The Royal Palace Ritual – that uses ESPA products. Pop into the sauna afterwards to truly benefit from the experience.
