You could arrive by yacht, of course, but most guests arrive at the Bodrum EDITION by car transfer from the airport, a 45-minute drive. This is essentially a fly-and-flop destination because, while there are things to see and do in and around Bodrum, you’ll be happy just to stay put and take advantage of all there is to offer here – and there’s a lot.

Starting with the rooms, all 108 of them, where even the entry-level offerings are light-filled and spacious. The rooms are in blocks, set on the foliaged, terraced landscape leading down to the beach, all with outdoor spaces and some (suites essentially) with kitchens and private pools. Decor is contemporary and cool; shades of white and sand are used throughout, and the only pop of colour will be the Agean beyond or the bougainvillaea outside your garden-view room. Marble bathrooms have twin sinks, separate showers, tubs and bidets. For something special, reserve the three-story four-bedroom villa, which boasts a private pool overlooking the sea, a sauna and two living rooms.

Picture perfect, the glistening white sand beckons, as does the deep blue water beyond. Make your way down the steps or road closer to the shore; you’ll find a boutique, restaurants, gym, pool deck, beach club (with kayaks, paddleboards and jet packs to rent), nightclub and a full-service spa, where you can finish a session with a blow-dry and a manicure. You’ll be on top of your game, then, for dinner which promises something special.

Dining choices include BRAVA, the Latin American-inspired signature restaurant, or two more relaxed choices: Morena, with its Mediterranean menu, and Kitchen, where there’s something to please everyone. Breakfast here, brunch really, is renowned for its tables laden with delicious local produce including a variety of breads, cheeses, sausages and olives as well as eggs prepared any which way you wish.

Don’t worry if you’ve danced the night away at the beach club and are too tired to walk back up the hill to your room, there are plenty of golf buggies to wish you back, Cinderella-style.
