And that's before venturing into beautiful Portofino, just a five-minute walk away, or even quicker with the complimentary shuttle to the sister hotel, Belmond Splendido Mare, which enjoys a fantastic position right on the town’s legendary Piazzetta.
Connections to the heart of town are advantageous as there’s only one formal restaurant at the Belmond Splendido, albeit an excellent one: La Terrazza. Serving exquisite, classic Italian and regional specialities under Chef Corrado Corti’s watchful eye, dining on the terrace with the whole of Portofino beneath you, or in the elegant dining room, is a real treat, especially when followed by an aperitif with live music accompaniment in the Piano Bar. For a casual meal, stop by the Pool Grill for local favourites like pizza and tiramisu with a backdrop of splendid pool and sea views. But the old adage goes that variety is the spice of life, so having easy access to the Splendido Mare's wonderful fine dining restaurant, DaV Mare, is fortuitous.
The bounty of activities offers plenty for families, and young guests are welcomed warmly with bathrobes and slippers. Family-focused highlights include gelato tasting at Splendido Mare's Gelateria San Giorgio and pizza classes. Even pets are welcome here; pampered furry visitors receive monogrammed robes, special menus and even spa packages, meaning every member of the family will be well and truly spoiled at this legendary hotel.
