As the city’s trendiest luxury hotel, Roomers Baden-Baden, Autograph Collection was a much-welcome, lively newcomer when it came to town in recent times. Impeccably run with convivial and professional staff members, there’s a sense of fun in the operations here: whimsical pop art adorns the walls, Chinese pottery vessels are used as stools in the public areas and there’s an entire wall of a variety of cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest to admire as you make your way to the hotel’s celebrated Asian restaurant: Moriki.

Located a short stroll from the heart of the picture-perfect town centre, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a fine choice of dining venues, cafes and boutiques. It’s a modern building which, truth be told, doesn’t look very enticing from the outside. A geometrically designed block building (think big legos), it’s not what you might be looking for on a visit here. But don’t let that put you off (if it indeed does), as within it’s an entirely different story. Roomers is a modern mecca to style, creative and innovative; ditto the rooms, restaurants, bars and recreational facilities.

There are 130 rooms and suites to choose from, some with balconies and some with views, all with a sofa or cosy chair to sit on or drape your clothes over, and all with up-to-date mod-cons. Upgrade to a suite if you want a massive bathroom with a shower plus a tub and, the ones on the top floor anyway, will have views of the Black Forest.

Start your evening at the rooftop bar, a destination in itself, so come early to snag the best seat. For dinner, Moriki serves some wonderful Oriental-inspired fare, and if you’re here in the summer, you’ll be able to dine outdoors. Nightcaps (with a cigar, perhaps) or a drink at any time, really, can be enjoyed at Roomers Bar on the lobby level which also serves creative cocktails on the outdoor patio. Breakfast is taken at the Breakfast Room, where comfortable seating in this elegant room is a perfect place to start the day with a Bavarian breakfast link or two to accompany your eggs.

If you’re in town to take the waters, there are plenty of places to do so close by. But if you would prefer to stay put (and we wouldn’t blame you), there’s a spa on the premises offering the finest of treatments and other pampering offerings, plus a gym with a view and an infinity pool on the top floor next to an enormous sauna from where you can look out over the treetops from the massive glass windows.
