The Raffles brand's first foray into India, Raffles Udaipur opened its doors in 2021 and has been dazzling guests ever since. Two distinct locales make up the property: the shores of Udai Sagar Lake and a private island located within it. Just 20 minutes from the airport, the serene escape nevertheless feels a world away: an atmosphere heightened by the gorgeous scenery, ample amenities and utter luxury found within.

Of the 137 accommodations, 36 can be found on Raffles Lake Shore Udaipur – which is located exactly where its name would suggest – while the other 101 reside on the private island itself. Within, the spaces are regal, refined and immaculately decorated, with not a single detail overlooked. Mughal, Rajasthani and European influences all make themselves known: a harmonious fusion that results in the feeling of staying in a grand country estate. Large windows frame romantic views, which are all the better enjoyed from a suite – each of which boasts a private manicured garden with a plunge pool to boot. The gastronomy scene here is as impressive as it is expansive, with six venues on the island and an additional four to be found on the lakeshore. Rediscovered recipes from the estates of Rajputana royalty comprise the menus at Sawai Kitchen, which utilise local ingredients and traditional techniques to take guests on a culinary journey. The Trellis Room is an enchanting Indian brasserie tucked against the lakeside: this is the place to visit to enjoy regional dishes in an elegant environment. While you're lakeside, pay a visit to the Tea Room for a delicate pastry, or head to the rooftop bar Belvedere for alfresco cocktails and panoramic views over the water.
