Set in a palace that was once the home of the Duke of Urbino, Orient Express Venezia is a romantic boutique getaway tucked into Venice's historic Cannaregio district. Opened in March of 2026, this hotel is the second property in the Orient Express brand's new luxury hotel portfolio, with the first being located in Rome.

Eight years of renovations to the canal-side Palazzo Donà Giovannelli were helmed by lauded architect Aline Asmar d’Ammam, resulting in a space that feels revitalised and refreshed while still honouring the rich history of the palace. There are just 47 guestrooms and suites in all, each of which is unique in both interior design and layout. Within, the carefully curated spaces are dreamy and graceful, with visual interest lent by the textural contrast of sumptuous velvet, embossed leather and gilded accents. Murano glasswork and ornamental ceilings heighten the sense of grandeur, while Art Deco accents and artwork inspired by eras both recent and distant playfully pay homage to the legacies of both the palace and the Orient Express. The Signature Suites – if you can snag one – are truly in a league of their own. The glamorous La Minerva Suite, which is named after the Roman goddess of wisdom and the arts, overlooks two canals and is set beneath an original Jacopo Guarana fresco that dates back to 1710. That ceiling is one of the hotel's oldest artistic features, though original 1860 frescoes can be found in both the Teatro Suite and the Colori Persi Suite as well.

The culinary prowess of three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck is the driving force behind the gastronomy scene at Orient Express Venezia. La Casati is an enchanting spot for lunch and dinner, with an intimate dining room that can accommodate up to 34 guests and a charming garden that opens in the warmer months. The food served here is a love letter to Venice, and the ambience is stylish yet easygoing. Wagon Bar is a dazzling Art Deco space designed to resemble a train carriage from a bygone era; visit for drinks in the evening or for cicchetti whenever the inclination strikes. Debuting in July of 2026, Heinz Beck Venezia is an experiential fine-dining restaurant that will round out the hotel’s trio of dining options and offer a gastronomic journey for up to 20 guests at a time.
