Nobu Hotel Palo Alto
California, United States
About the hotel
"Attractively located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Nobu Hotel Palo Alto boasts tranquil guestrooms, an excellent restaurant (Nobu, of course) and a cutting-edge spa."
Behind Nobu Hotel’s attractive exterior, you’ll find a grand total of just 73 rooms and suites; a number which now include a handful of exclusive Ryokan options on the seventh and eighth floors that were recently introduced. The interior design scheme is tranquil and Zen, toeing the line of being austere but falling short of it thanks to clever styling. Interiors are set in simple, soothing shades and the colour palette is almost monochromatic: think crisp whites, pale beiges and plenty of beautiful blonde wood throughout. The only true colour contrast comes in the details: the coal-black accents on the lighting fixtures, for example, a rosy glow in the bathrooms, a dish of pristine green apples set on top of a desk.... The interior design scheme is tranquil and Zen, toeing the line of being austere but falling short of it thanks to clever styling. The only true colour contrast comes in the details: the coal-black accents on the lighting fixtures, for example, a rosy glow in the bathrooms, a dish of pristine green apples set on top of a desk. This attractive, simple ambience makes the rooms’ views even better. Full-wall windows gaze out at the periwinkle blue sky and at Palo Alto and the Santa Cruz mountains. All accommodations – it’s worth noting – have their own private balconies from which to enjoy these views. On the seventh and eighth floors, you’ll find the newly inaugurated Ryokan Rooms and Suites. These ultra-private accommodations often offer even more beautiful design alongside bespoke personal service.
The hotel has just one eatery inside. Unsurprisingly, it’s a Nobu Restaurant. Sophisticated, elegant and featuring an elevated version of the design scheme found throughout the hotel, this is the place to go for Chef Nobu’s iconic signature dishes; Miso Black Cod and Rock Shrimp Tempura are two highly regarded favourites. The restaurant also offers takeaway, meaning you can enjoy spectacular Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine in the comfort of your own accommodations whenever you feel so inclined.
While there’s plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment within walking distance of the hotel (venture a little farther, and you’ll find hiking options as well), you’ll also be within a heartbeat of a good variety of amenities within Nobu itself. The hotel’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities are bright, airy and kitted out with all the latest gear – Peloton bikes included. For some post-workout pampering, SkinSpirit awaits. A cutting edge spa co-founded by a board-certified plastic surgeon, SkinSpirit is the first of its kind and offers services for all things wellness and aesthetics.
