Set within this pretty district is one of the newest additions to London’s upscale hospitality scene: Nobu Hotel London Portman Square. An attractive combination of both Eastern and Western influences, this bespoke hotel offers stylish guestrooms, a cosmopolitan vibe and top-notch dining – which should come as no surprise given the legacy of iconic chef Nobu Matsuhisa.

Tranquil Japanese design and a hint of urban edginess fuse together to create the hotel's rooms and suites, all of which share the same colour palette of charcoal, taupe and ivory. Blonde wood accents add an element of warmth to the spaces, as do the numerous plants found throughout: think bonsai on the bedside tables and intriguing arrangements set on the desks. Contemporary artwork adds a pop of cosmopolitan glamour, and the crème de la crème of the hotel – the Nobu Penthouse – has a fabulous, art gallery-esque vibe.

Dining at the hotel is marvellous and comes in the form of two eponymous venues: a restaurant and a terrace. Nobu Restaurant is a celebration of Japanese cuisine with a menu featuring some of Nobu’s most iconic dishes alongside new innovations that you won’t find anywhere else. A fabulous sake list is the cherry on top. For an al fresco option, Nobu Terrace is a tranquil, spacious venue where you can find locally inspired dishes, light bites and excellent cocktails
