Monaco’s Monte Carlo is a stomping ground for the fabulous. A glamorous crowd requires equally glamorous accommodations, and those can be found at Monte-Carlo Beach. There, the vibe of a posh California country home meets fashionable French design, all of which is drenched in Art-Deco elegance. The hotel’s well-heeled crowd is glitzy as can be; join their ranks by making the grandest of entrances and arriving by boat.

The hotel’s terracotta-coloured exteriors contrast starkly against the pristine white chairs and umbrellas that surround the brilliant blue of an Olympic-size pool and the ocean beyond. The hotel has just 40 rooms and suites, and feels wonderfully exclusive while offering the amenities one would expect from a larger resort. Do note that it’s only open from March through October: this is by no means a destination for a winter escape.

In attractive rooms, Matisse-inspired frescoes adorn the walls, which are in places thickly striped in gentle colours. White furnishings and white marble bathrooms create a calm environment, while playful accents in the form of bold circular mirrors or wildly patterned nightstands can be found throughout. All rooms have loggias, and some higher-level rooms have terraces that lead directly to the promenade. The one disappointment here is that while some rooms have Nespresso machines, they do not come standard.

Monte-Carlo’s Elsa restaurant serves splendid Mediterranean cuisine made even better with the dining room’s gorgeous Riviera views. The summertime Le Deck is a stone’s throw from the pool, and the seaside La Pizzeria has catch-of-the-day specialities and scrumptious wood-fired pizzas. Club La Vigie Lounge and Restaurant borders on surreal, boasting a waterfront location where you can share small plates, listen to live music and take in unbelievable views.

A generous stretch of private beach forces guests to make the difficult choice between spending their days engaged in spectacular activities or simply remaining as blissfully still as possible. Should you choose the former, tubing and flyboarding are just two of the hotel’s offered watersports. If the latter is more appealing, opt for a private beach cabin and have your meals brought to you while you luxuriate to the sounds of the water. Continue the tranquillity with a visit to the spa, which is tucked between the pine trees and the Mediterranean – an extravagant kids club will keep children delightfully entertained while you pursue absolute bliss.
