The facilities here are those of a much larger resort, flanked by two golf courses (Bay Course, which features Maui’s only hole located over the ocean and Plantation Course, ranked number one in Hawaii), a nature reserve and a marine reserve with superb diving and snorkelling possibilities. Other attractions include a cascading lagoon pool, a no–mobile phone serenity pool, three restaurants, a 4,180 sq m (45,000 sq ft) spa and an extensive collection of original Pegge Hopper artwork inherited from the historic Kapalua Bay Hotel. The Paintbox program welcomes children aged 5–12, and the new M-Teen group offers stand-up paddling, snorkelling and other adventures for older kids. Something here that you won't find at other resorts is the renovated Cliff House, built in 1940 on a lava outcropping overlooking Namalu Bay. Designed, initially, for pineapple plantation managers, it now serves as a venue for weddings, private events and family barbecues.
The resort has one main restaurant, Cane & Canoe, where the freshest seafood and other fine food and authentic cocktails are offered throughout the day, indoors and on the Sunset Patio. Sunday brunch is a particular favourite with locals and guests alike.
