Look up to the white and blue façade of Visconti’s La Colombaia in the park.

Stretch languorously on the cushty rattan chairs on your terrace, sip a glass of Biancolella and drink in the delicious azure views. Behind you the red façade of the Mezzatorre tower warms in the sunshine. Inside the cool limestone bathroom is flooded with light through tall windows. It has a small balcony overlooking the comings and goings at the hotel entrance, wave to a friend and invite them to share your views with an aperitivo. There is a good sized walk in wardrobe, portable speakers are tuned into Radio Pellicano, and the bed faces the bay so your mornings begin with nature’s beauty.

Step one way for a lovely light bedroom with a modern four poster, tiles edge wooden floors in a quietly modern take. Behind the bed is a ‘walk around dressing room’, in front of the bed is the superb sea view and your terrace which overlooks the whole Ischian bay. A canvas awning gives an impression of the prow of your ship. The terrace has a Jacuzzi, Ischia is a place of wellbeing, somewhere to soothe and revive, just give in. To one side of the terrace is a small look out post, where you can wave to friends at the beach restaurant, to the other side are steps down to a smaller private terrace, your private "pensatoio". You have a quietly stylish sitting room, bathroom with double vanity and a tub where you can soak by a picture window overlooking the sea, spectacular.

In the park cottages you are amidst the oxygen rich pines and greenery, it is so peaceful, just the rustle of birds in trees and the hush of waves. Double deluxe rooms are more spacious. Interiors are designed with individuality, some have chequered Italian bathroom tiles, some light limestone, some feature ultra-modern basins, the unifying theme is elegance.

This corner of Mezzatorre exudes all the mystique that draws writers and directors to Ischia. Meander along quiet pine paths between the tower and your hideaway. Interiors are light and calm with a splash of Pellicano panache. The terrace is semi private, divided by more pretty verdure and fragrant plants, a delightful place to stretch out in the sun-blanched afternoon with an iced tisane, idling away an hour over backgammon with a friend or neighbour.

Hidden in the woodland park the cottage has been caught in the lens of Marie-Louise Sciò, Italian tastemaker and Pellicano’s own creative director. White washed beams pitch above the airy living space, with a floor to ceiling glass wall so the refreshing green woods appear as a living vivarium. A mezzanine floor with eaved ceilings stretches the width of the cottage; playroom, love nest what you will, it’s delightful. Below are two more light and airy ensuite bedrooms. The vast wooden decking is a chilled spot for lunch after a day playing in the Ischian bay. In the evenings clink cocktail ice as the cicadas strike up their hypnotic rattle and hum.
