Set near the waterfront in the vibrant WATERS Takeshiba Precinct, Mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection is a new player in downtown Tokyo's luxury hospitality scene. The upscale hotel derives its name from the word "mesmerise," which should give you an idea of the hotel's attitude towards guest experience. Experiential from tip to toe, this is truly a hotel for all of the senses and is an enchanting fusion of culture and design that combines authentic Japanese hospitality with modern luxury to create a one-of-a-kind hotel.

The hotel occupies floors 17 through 26 of the building it inhabits, with over a dozen categories of rooms to choose from. Though there’s a range in terms of size, views and amenities, all accommodations are aesthetically similar and feature a handsome interior design scheme set in neutral shades of cream, steely grey and chocolate. Restrained use of colour comes through in teal and burnt orange throw pillows, which add a welcome pop of vibrance to the decidedly masculine spaces. Gorgeous bathrooms are set in striking grey marble and mirror the same modern, linear sensibilities of the living spaces at large.

The dining scene at the hotel is bold and beautiful, with three good venues to choose from in addition to a members-only private salon club. Chef’s Theatre brings the flavours of France to Tokyo in a marvellous 101-seat restaurant. There, European dishes are creatively reimagined with Japanese ingredients and methodologies to create memorable fusion cuisine. Chef’s Table is open for all meals of the day and is particularly worthwhile for dinner. Miyazaki Beef Ginza Miyachiku Takeshibaten is an exclusive terrace restaurant that showcases Miyazaki-branded beef in addition to speciality dishes falling under the culinary categories of teppanyaki, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki, among others. The venue Whisk is a favourite of guests and locals alike and is a trendy downtown bar featuring delicious cocktails and a cool music scene. The exclusive, members-only private salon Club Mesm is luxurious, laid-back and fabulous as can be with its spellbinding views of the Tokyo Bay (as seen from a pretty outdoor terrace) and flawless dinners inspired by the concept of "Japan Flow".

While there is no spa within the hotel, there is a fitness centre on-site; though not enormous, it is reasonably well-equipped and remains open 24 hours a day.
