A snazzy boutique establishment with a killer location, Malibu Beach Inn is a refreshing departure from your standard beachfront hotel. The property’s enviable address places it smack on the sand (you really could not get closer to the ocean without standing in it) as well as within easy reach of the best shopping and dining in Malibu.

The Inn’s aesthetic is every bit as trendy as its surroundings: characterised by artsy modern minimalism, the accommodations perfectly strike that hard-to-nail balance of residential comfort and sleek luxury (you don’t want to forget that you’re on holiday, after all). Gorgeous guest rooms are airy, bright and welcoming and are set in a neutral palette of soft ivory, beige and grey with plenty of blonde wood used throughout. Nautical blues appear in the accents to tie together the sophisticated beachy vibe, and furnishings (all custom-made, of course) lend an attractive Scandinavian minimalism to it all. Impressively, each of the property’s 47 rooms has views of the ocean, and amenities, which range from gas fireplaces to Nespresso machines, are top-notch.

Set on the picturesque sands of Carbon Beach is Carbon Beach Club Restaurant – also known as CBC Malibu. It's the only restaurant on the property, but thankfully, it is excellent. Inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean and Pacific coasts (and utilising supremely fresh ingredients from the latter), CBC hosts guests for all meals of the day and features a stunning wine list that has earned it six Wine Spectator Awards. Dine indoors or out, and come back in the evenings to curl up by the fire with a cosy blanket and a drink in hand.

CURE Daily Spa features everything from traditional bodywork and skincare offerings to medical spa treatments that range from micro-needling to Botox. IV Nutrient Therapy is also available (Myers’ Cocktail, anyone?), alongside injectable therapies like biotin, B12 and vitamin D. There's no pool on site, but guests do have access to the state-of-the-art fitness centre found within the CURE Health & Wellness Center. Plus, it’s easy to get your exercise on the sand, in the waves, or beyond with a little help from the Inn’s concierge team, who can coordinate everything from hikes, water-sport lessons, and guided excursions. You might also opt to get your daily steps in by venturing into town or by going for a stroll on the iconic Malibu Pier.
