Set within over 1,000 hectares of pristine national park, there are unique opportunities for connecting with nature, while 24 private beaches ensure there’s always somewhere to escape to for that true castaway experience.
Guest suites are luxurious and spacious and come with a private deck, a beautiful view of the ocean or of the lush gardens and floor-to-ceiling windows that give a feeling of bringing the outdoors in, whilst many have a private plunge pool too. If it’s more space and luxury that you require, there’s also the private villa or the private pavilion to choose from. It’s worth noting that – good or bad – there’s limited internet access on Lizard Island, and mobile phone coverage is not available.
The stunning coral gardens are the perfect place to watch technicoloured fish swim beside you, and during your stay, you’ll have use of snorkelling gear as well as stand-up paddleboards and sea kayaks. If you like to dive, one of the most popular trips from Lizard Island is to Cod Hole, famous for its potato cod. And if it’s game fishing that you enjoy, charter a yacht from the resort and go in search of that special catch.
Do also catch one of the twice-weekly tours of the internationally acclaimed Lizard Island Research Centre, or join a guided tour along one of the resort’s nature trails. Meanwhile, the resort’s swimming pool, tennis courts, gym and spa will take care of all your health and fitness needs.
When hunger strikes, grab some of the best local seafood ever at Salt Water Restaurant, or, for something more casual, order a burger at any time served wherever you please. If you’re exploring the island, take advantage of the gourmet picnic hamper service for lunch. And in the evenings, Driftwood Bar & Wine Cellar is a great place for a tipple.
