Les Sources de Caudalie
Bordeaux, France
About the hotel
"The perfect country escape for spa-loving oenophiles, Les Sources de Caudalie is good living at its finest: expect Michelin-starred dining, a superb spa and – of course – fabulous wine."
The concept behind Les Sources de Caudalie is inspired by the ‘French Paradox’, a phrase coined in the 1980s. It refers to a study showing that despite the diet in southwest France being rich in saturated fats, there isn’t the level of cardiovascular disease that you’d expect – most likely down to the benefits of drinking wine.
The hotel’s La Grand’Vigne restaurant boasts two Michelin stars and is set in a former orangery, modelled on an ornamental, 18th-century glasshouse. The hotel’s La Grand’Vigne restaurant boasts two Michelin stars and is set in a former orangery, modelled on an ornamental, 18th-century glasshouse. Here, dishes make the most of seasonal produce, and the kitchen garden supplies the vegetables, fruits and aromatic plants, whilst fresh eggs come directly from the hen house. Dishes are artistic creations full of French flavours and European flair. Meanwhile, La Table Du Lavoir serves delicious, unusual, bistro-style food and there’s the Rouge wine bar, where you can book wine-tastings of wonderful local wines.
If you’re hooked, enhance your knowledge of the local fare with a wine tour either on foot, by bicycle or by car with a driver to explore the neighbouring great growths in Graves as well as those in the Médoc, Sauternes, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. If you’re passionate about food preparation, take a cooking class at the hotel, held on Saturdays.
There’s a sense of fun in the 40 Comfort and Prestige rooms and 3 Junior Suites as well as the six cottages. Families are sure to love the Isle aux Oiseaux, a cabin that’s perched on stilts over the lake. Luxurious bathrooms are stocked with Caudalie’s grape-based gorgeous products.
Caudalie’s Vinotherapie Spa offers a range of unique treatments that combine spring water, rich minerals and the antioxidant benefits of grapes, and there’s also a hammam, an indoor pool, an outdoor swimming pool and a jacuzzi filled with water from the hot spring 540 metres below ground. Outdoor tennis courts, bikes for rides through the forest and a gym overlooking the vineyards complete the fitness picture.

If the “buco-chic” spirit and its undeniable charming decoration is still present, our Signature Suites find their exclusivity in their privileged location, away from the others, in order to promise you intimacy, calm and serenity. They enjoy a unique setting where nothing interferes in their stunning views of the sumptuous landscape of the white vines of Smith Haut Lafitte Castle.
The most emblematic Signature Suite, on the other hand is a reminiscent of the cabanes tchanquées (cabins on stilts) in the Arcachon Bay. This room overlooking the lake is a true haven of peace, both outside, thanks to its charming raised deck, and inside, where an utterly soft and feminine décor awaits. After three collaborations with highly contemporary designers, designer Rabih Kayrouz has revived the bucolic charm of this luxury cabin.
L’Île aux Oiseaux is now a cocoon where time seems to stand still – a refuge for lovers everywhere. All accommodation has a bathroom with tub and shower, individual climate control, cable TV, wireless internet access, mini bar, safe and hairdryer.Lowest rate
