A scenic 40-minute seaplane ride will whisk guests from Malé to Kudadoo; after disembarking, they will scarcely need to lift a finger for the rest of the stay. The resort’s ‘anything, anytime, anywhere’ ethos means that the world, if you’re a guest, is your oyster: Whatever indulgences you can dream up, your personal butler will endeavour to bring to life.
First, however, you’ll want to get situated in your accommodations. The fifteen overwater residences are arranged in a ring and come in one- and two-bedroom configurations. All are deliciously spacious (the one-bedroom residences span 319 square metres in all) and impeccably designed thanks to the creative brilliance of architect Yumi Yamazaki. Interiors are the epitome of understated, effortless luxury with Tasmanian oak floors, handmade furniture and elegant open-plan layouts. Expansive decks with private infinity pools are a definite plus, and the views are simply to die for.
The Retreat is where you’ll find the resort’s main restaurant alongside the fabulous Cheese & Wine Cellar, which is home to the owner’s private collection and a spectacular assortment of 50 different cheeses and all manner of charcuterie delights. You can dine in the restaurant if you so choose, but you’re really limited only by your imagination in terms of both what you order and where you enjoy it, whether that means in the comfort of your own residence, by candlelight on the beach or even on a deserted sandbank island. Guests craving a change of scenery can also take a quick boat ride to the property’s sister resort, Hurawalhi, to enjoy a meal at 5.8 Undersea Restaurant: the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant, located 5.8 metres below the surface.
There’s no shortage of ways to fill your hours at Kudadoo, whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure. For the former, visit Sulha Spa: an overwater sanctuary with indulgent treatments, spectacular views and the Lonu Cave salt chamber, which is lined with Himalayan salt that’s over one thousand years old. When it’s time for some excitement, you can explore both above the waves and below them with snorkelling, scuba diving, jet skiing and all manner of watersports, to speak nothing of the dolphin expeditions and luxury yacht excursions that await.
