Set in a heritage-listed 1930s Art Deco building in Sydney’s bustling central business district is Kimpton Margot: an eclectic hotel that stylishly blends old and new. Originally built by Henry Budden and Nicholas Mackey, the iconic landmark hearkens back to a glamorous age with its abundance of marble, travertine and ceramic, while inspired interior design captures the cosmopolitan feel of modern-day Sydney.

172 guest rooms and suites are attractive and roomy: even the smallest entry-level accommodations clock in at a generous 33 square metres. Bronze accents and Art Deco-inspired touches here and there mingle with clean lines and contemporary furnishings to create these crisp and comfortable spaces, while wall art by a range of international artists adds a burst of character to the spaces. Helmed by Chef Luke Mangan, Luke’s Kitchen is a must-visit for a contemporary Australian meal that features the country’s finest ingredients: think mouthwatering dishes like Grilled Marinated Quail and Split Skull Island King Prawns. The cocktails found here are excellent as well, and vinophiles should be certain to book a wine tasting in Luke’s Cellar. The Wilmot Bar is a prime spot for a latte during the day or a botanical libation at night, and more nightlife can be found at Harper Rooftop bar, which is perched above Sydney on level seven and is styled to resemble a lush urban sanctuary with its verdant foliage, shimmering pool and pastel pink mosaic bar.
