A luxurious beachfront getaway set on the Andaman Coast, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is an elegant escape the whole family can enjoy. Resplendent with on-site activities for both grown-ups and the youngest guests alike, the property features a pristine beach, a wide variety of dining options and the longest swimming pool in Southeast Asia.

Despite its laundry list of amenities, the resort features just 52 accommodations in total. All come in the form of two-bedroom suites that have been designed with families in mind, intentionally creating spaces that promote time spent together without sacrificing on design. The interiors are airy and elegant, with a streamlined aesthetic that favours boldly contrasting shades of ivory set against rich dark wood. A distinct sense of place is lent to the spaces through locally inspired accents and artworks, and many of the suites feature thoughtful design elements that children will love – ultra-elegant bunk beds are one such standout.

No fewer than 11 restaurants and bars comprise the resort’s culinary scene, which has enough variety that even the pickiest eater will find something to love. Locally inspired cuisine takes centre stage at Ta-Krai, an endlessly stylish Thai restaurant with eye-catching interiors and gorgeous sunset views from the outdoor dining area. Another scenic spot is Sakura, a Japanese restaurant overlooking the lagoon pool, where guests can dine on classic sushi and teppanyaki dishes. Western cuisine with an emphasis on Mediterranean flavours can be found at the breezy, beachside Drift Beach Bar & Grill, while oven-fired Italian pizzas and pastas are served at Olive Restaurant. There are plenty of options for a quick bite at any time of day, including Sala – a casual eatery by the family pool – the light and airy Deli, and the aptly named Waterfront, which has beach views and an ample breakfast buffet. Two pool bars and an additional beach bar ensure that refreshing cocktails for grown-ups are never far away.

When it comes time for some fun, the 2.4-kilometre-long outdoor lagoon pool will delight guests of all ages, and the Aqua Play Zone is a must-visit for energetic kids. An abundance of other activities for younger guests includes treasure hunts, beekeeping lessons and opportunities to meet the property’s resident chickens, while parents are sure to enjoy a visit or two to the tranquil Quan Spa.
