Set on the pristine white shores of Shura Island, InterContinental the Red Sea Resort is a luxurious new way to experience the ‘Maldives of Saudi Arabia'. Shura Island itself is the centrepiece of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Red Sea Project, and the InterContinental is one of the very first resorts to open on the island.

Classic Rooms – the property’s entry-level options – start at a generous 52 square metres, while the Red Sea Suite (the resort’s largest accommodation) has four times as much space. Within, the contemporary spaces feel chic and serene and are decorated with a streamlined coastal sensibility that favours natural shades, organic materials and tasteful artistic accents throughout.
Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light and, in many options, frame idyllic views of the water. All accommodations feature their own private outdoor spaces furnished with loungers, circular daybeds and egg-shaped swing chairs.

Five dining options provide plenty of variety come mealtimes, whatever you find yourself in the mood for. Darein is the resort’s all-day restaurant, and is a Levantine Moroccan affair with options for dining both indoors and out. For lunch, grilled seafood and Mediterranean tapas can be enjoyed at the poolside Chimes, while Murrma will have you covered for pastries and coffee throughout the day. For dinner, you’ll have two further options to choose from. The 305 Miami Beach Club and Cigar Lounge combines Latin American spirit with the soul of Miami Beach, while Ardo, the resort's fine-dining option, is a South American spot with Peruvian-inspired interiors and a meat-forward menu.

Shura Links Golf Club – Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole championship golf course – is located a mere ten minutes from the resort. Designed by Brian Curley and boasting far-reaching coastal views, this is a must-visit for any fan of the game. Guests looking for other ways to stay active during their stay can visit the pools (there are both family-friendly and adults-only options), the beach or work out in the resort's sleek fitness centre. Young guests ages four through fourteen will find plenty of entertainment at Planet Trekkers Club, perhaps while their parents slip off to the spa.
