Location is everything when it comes to booking a hotel in Greece, which makes the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki a frequent flier’s dream. Enveloped by gardens and set moments away from the iconic Regency Casino, this upscale hotel’s address places it a mere five minutes away from the airport. The convenient location does mean that it’s a bit of a schlep from the city centre itself, but if you're on a quick holiday (or just inclined to kick back and relax in your room) you'd be hard-pressed to find a better located hotel as far as ease is concerned.

Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki’s proximity to the airport makes it a popular stay with the corporate crowd, though it is equally beloved by leisure travellers. The hotel goes out of its way to be both pet and kid-friendly, making it a good option for those travelling with family – four-legged or otherwise.

Within, 152 guestrooms are attractive and quiet, though a bit lacking as far as personality is concerned. Slightly generic though they may be, they are nevertheless quite comfortable and reasonably spacious, even at entry-level. Interiors are decorated in an unassuming palette of neutral shades, and all accommodations come with their own private furnished balconies or patios.

More local flavours present themselves in the restaurant’s compelling wine list, which boasts a good range of bottles both regional and international. Oceana is a poolside restaurant that epitomises a Greek holiday. Catch-of-the-day seafood and meat specialities cooked on an open charcoal grill dominate the menu, which also includes a good variety of tropical drinks. Back inside, the Lobby Lounge is classic and classy and is a lovely spot in which to grab a drink or light bite at any time of the day.

Harmonia Spa is the hotel's wellness centre, which features four pretty treatment rooms alongside a separate beauty salon. A 1,200-square-metre outdoor swimming pool stays open between May and October, and there is an additional pool nearby that's designed for children.
