You couldn’t be better situated in the City of Light if you tried than here at the Hôtel de Berri, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris in the 8th arrondissement (a.k.a. “le huitième”) on a side street that’s directly off the Champs-Élysées. It’s near all the hustle and bustle of the city and just steps from a handful of some of the best addresses (and that includes our favourite pastry and macaron haven – Ladurée). The George V metro station is right around the corner.

Reproductions of classical sculptures from the Louvre, as well as a myriad of pieces of art, grace the hotel’s public areas and many of the suites. You’d (almost) be forgiven for shunning the crowds at the museums and staying put right here to get your fill of culture. There are 40 rooms and 35 sumptuously-appointed suites at the property, each one different from the next. Entry-level rooms are fairly spacious ( by Parisian standards), between 32-36 square metres (344-390 square feet) and are well geared-up to coset guests with Apple TVs, heated bathroom floors, Toto toilets (with heated seats), seating areas, queen-sized beds and Nespresso machines. Suites are stunningly appointed, most with modern or Neo-Classical furnishings done up in rich fabrics like faux fur, silks and velvets, making these digs the perfect Parisian pied-à-terre.

The hotel’s five-star service standards go a long way in ensuring a stay here is special. Put it to the test come evening starting at Le Bizazz bar with comfortable seating looking out into a wild and overgrown garden. Take your drink for a wander and stop into the Salle de Sculptures, the hotel’s lounge area with its impressive collection of art books. When hunger gets the better of you, head to Le Schiap where, seated on the grasshopper-green chairs and surrounded by the huge, lively fresco depicting the highs of modern-day Parisian life (spot the celebs), you’ll be treated to some very suitable Mediterranean fare.
