An icon of luxury hospitality since the 1980s, Le Carl Gustaf has a long legacy of prestige and glamour, which – thanks to the hotel’s commitment to reimagining and reinventing itself – makes the property every bit as indulgent today as it was nearly a half-century ago.

It’s hard to imagine a more attractive spot than that which Le Carl Gustaf enjoys; the hotel’s lofty perch places it between verdant landscapes and the Caribbean sea, treating guests to spectacular views of the island, water and the pretty harbour.

For the most special of occasions, you’ll have three jaw-dropping options to choose from: The Diane Suite (which is actually a fantastical merging of three indulgent suites), The Loft Royal Terrace (which takes the form of an ultra-luxurious roof terrace), and the breathtaking Villa Diane, which boasts a dazzling infinity pool and the attentive service of a dedicated butler.

While you should absolutely allocate time to explore the magnificent culinary scene of St. Barths at large, you’ll find that the gastronomy found within the hotel itself is a magnificent place to start. Two restaurants and a bar offer guests a handful of different atmospheres and backdrops to choose from, beginning with Fouquet's Saint-Barth. There, panoramic views of the port of Gustava set the stage for a Pierre Gagnaire-designed menu that features both time-honoured classics and local flavours. Just a few steps away from the water, you’ll find Shellona, which is helmed by the Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou and boasts tantalising Cycladic flavours on the beautiful Shell Beach. At sunset, head to Bar Fouquet’s for a drink with a view; the cocktail menu here is wonderfully inspired: think sage margaritas and saffron Caipiroskas alongside a stellar selection of classic libations.
