A Spanish-Chinese fusion getaway in the Qu Jiang New District, Gran Meliá Xian is a luxurious launching pad from which to explore one of China’s most culturally fascinating cities. As its name suggests, Duo Spanish Authentic Cuisine channels the flavours of Spain in its superb, multi-sensory fare, while Yuet Fu Chinese Restaurant uses modern cooking techniques to elevate its traditional Cantonese dishes.

The majority of your city exploration will need to be done by car, but there’s plenty to see within easy reach. Shaanxi History Museum, for example, can be reached in about a ten-minute drive, and getting to the Xi’an City Wall (one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in all of China) takes just a few minutes more.
