Set between the mountains and the region’s famous lake, the Geneva Marriott Hotel is a modern, eco-friendly hotel designed with its guests’ ease in mind. While the immediate surroundings aren’t particularly walkable, the property’s convenience for travellers is near unbeatable: the city centre is quickly and easily reached by public transportation, and – best of all – the airport is a mere six-minute drive away.

The hotel’s ‘think global, act local’ ethos is evident in all aspects of the hotel, from the locally sourced ingredients used in the property’s restaurant to the state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems that regulate the temperatures throughout. The ‘glocal’ hospitality approach extends to the hotel’s guest rooms and suites, of which there are 263 in all. Ranging from the entry-level Deluxe Rooms (which begin at 27 square metres) to the expansive 101-square-metre Presidential Suite, all accommodations share a contemporary, tech-savvy design scheme with a sleek layout and plenty of mod-cons throughout. The ambience leans slightly towards corporate (no surprise given the hotel’s proximity to the airport), but the spaces are nevertheless attractively appointed and comfortable. For a particularly memorable stay, book a Sky View Terrace Suite which – in addition to having as much leg room indoors as the Presidential Suite – features a 79-square-metre furnished private terrace alongside other perks like a standalone soaking bathtub and full-size kitchen.

The hotel refers to its primary restaurant Moments as a ‘social eatery’, which will give guests some insight into its community-focused layout, open kitchen and warm, convivial vibe. The ‘glocal’ approach is very much woven into the fabric of Moments, which amalgamates local, in-season ingredients in its globally inspired fare. Visit for lunch or dinner to enjoy dishes like homemade tagliatelle, seared Valais zander and intriguingly named options like ‘Greens for the Conscience’. There's a good collection of cocktails at the restaurant as well, though if the weather’s warm, you’ll want to head upstairs to the hotel’s hidden gem on the 12th floor. Called Suite 1201, this rooftop bar is as much worth a visit for the drinks as it is for the panoramic views over the city.
