Set on 52 gorgeous acres of an idyllic private peninsula, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is what oceanfront getaway dreams are made of. Though it is less than an hour's drive from the city of Puerto Vallarta, the resort feels a world away. And – having undergone extensive renovations in 2020 – it is now better than ever.

The resort’s casita-style accommodations comprise 31 private villas alongside 177 guestrooms. Both modernity and Mexican tradition feature prominently within, and the design is heavily influenced by the region's abundant natural beauty. Interiors are elegant and graceful: expect clean lines, plenty of natural materials and a colour palette set in earth tones, whites and shades of nautical blues. Homage is paid to the region's heritage in the details: throw pillows boast traditional Mexican designs, and vibrant framed prints hang on the walls. Best of all is the fact that each and every accommodation comes with its own private outdoor space.

An abundance of eateries await at meal times, with something to appease even the pickiest of eaters. Health-conscious guests will adore Tamai, which focuses on plant-based Asian cuisine utilising the freshest ingredients imaginable. Another healthy option can be found at The Salad Shack, which is set right on the beach and serves exactly what its name suggests. For something a little bit more hearty, enjoy a mouthwatering dinner of grilled steak or seafood at Bahía by Richard Sandoval, or indulge in authentic Mexican fare at Dos Catrinas. You’ll have an impressive array of options for a drink as well; Mez (the ultra-cool, mezcal-focused bar) and a toes-in-the-sand option called The Shack are two of our personal favourites.

There’s no shortage of activities to keep guests of all ages entertained at the resort. Golf enthusiasts will delight in the Four Seasons’ two breathtaking private golf courses, and can also check off a bucket list item by visiting the legendary “Tale of the Whale” – which is the world's only natural island green. Couples can enjoy romantic cliffside dinners or sunset cruises, while young guests can enjoy all manner of activities by taking advantage of the resort's Kids For All Seasons programme. Fourteen tennis courts provide plenty more opportunity for exercise, as do an abundance of options for adventures by land and by sea.
