Just a quick ferry or plane ride from Honolulu, the Four Seasons Resort Lanai is set on Hawaii’s smallest inhabited island, a mostly undeveloped oasis of serenity that once served as the Dole pineapple plantation. The resort sits on Hulopoe Bay, a protected marine preserve where snorkelers will see vividly blue-green parrotfish, yellow tangs and green sea turtles.

Described as what Hawaii ‘used to be’, the property is the ideal place to come if you’re looking for a resort that feels exclusive, has all the bells and whistles and yet remains private and discreet. The lush botanical gardens offer 12 acres of fragrant paths to stroll, while the tennis courts and complimentary fitness classes in the gym and yoga studio make it easy to stay active.
