A bold new lifestyle hotel with an utterly unmissable façade, FirstName Bordeaux offers a vibrant, eco-friendly stay in the heart of Bordeaux. Opened in just 2023, this eclectic hotel has already garnered high praise for its prime location and warm, convivial vibe.

Getting to the hotel from Bordeaux Airport is a breeze: by car, the trip takes around 20 minutes, while the tram (which runs directly from the airport) adds just 15 minutes more. Once you’ve arrived, head to your ultra-comfortable accommodations. The property’s 147 rooms and suites are bright and welcoming, and all are designed simply yet with an obvious keen eye for detail. Within, the spaces are satisfyingly geometric and aesthetic: dark brown leather and black accents contrast beautifully with bright white sheets (French-made, of course), pale wood and wicker. Large windows flood the spaces with natural light, offering views of either the city or the garden. In all, thoughtful amenities abound: additions like international adapters, activated charcoal air-purifying bags and both French presses and kettles come standard. Suites go a step further with additional perks, offering private terraces and either saunas or hot tubs alongside their elevated interior design.

The hotel features just one restaurant, but fortunately, it’s a good one. Called La Bada, FirstName’s sole eatery is open for all meals of the day and is the creation of chef and innkeeper Cédric Béchade. La Bada embodies a ‘choose your own adventure’ type approach to its dining experience: guests can enjoy their meals in the restaurant, relax in the lounges, sit at the bar or take their food to go. The seasonally changing menu highlights local ingredients and showcases inventive dishes such as Basque blue cheese tartlet with walnut praline, sautéed squid and chorizo with carrots, and buckwheat shortbread with cinnamon-roasted figs and blackcurrant sorbet. The superb wine list features a wide selection of French bottles, with an emphasis on those – unsurprisingly – from Bordeaux.

The hotel’s fitness centre spans two floors, offering streamlined and attractive facilities that are open 24 hours a day. That being said, you’re sure to get plenty of daily exercise exploring the surrounding neighbourhood on foot: nearby attractions include the Grosse Cloche and the Miroir d’Eau, which is the world’s largest reflecting pool.
