An elegant countryside escape that's less than an hour's train ride from London, Fairmont Windsor Park is a breath of fresh air for anyone needing a respite from urban life. Set on the fringes of the park that shares its name, this graceful property was once a private residence before being reborn first as the Savill Court Hotel and then again in 2022 as the Fairmont Windsor Park. There's much to love: forty acres of lush green space, a picture-perfect lake and a superb spa top the list.

251 rooms and suites span 11 different categories, and all represent a perfect blend of contemporary luxury with the property's 19th-century heritage. Within, the spaces are elevated yet understated, with gorgeous fabric wallpaper, elegant furnishings (including supremely comfortable beds) and pretty details like potted orchids and attractive artworks throughout. Many of the nicer options include their own private balconies or terraces, and spacious suites feel more like residential countryside getaways than your standard hotel accommodations. Particularly worthy of note are the Treehouse Suites, which, as their name suggests, can be found tucked into the trees. Guests staying here can expect attractive contemporary interiors, full kitchens, private hot tubs and a delicious feeling of seclusion.

Half a dozen venues for drinking and dining provide plenty of variety at meal times, with something to suit every mood and occasion. Breakfast and afternoon tea can be enjoyed in the Orchid Tea Room, a space awash in botanical wallpaper, houndstooth chairs and pastel everything else. Later in the day, visit il Giardino at 1215 for contemporary Italian in a striking environment or The Windsor Brasserie (a new addition) for superb cocktails alongside a raw bar and a modern European menu of dishes like Iberico and onion marmalade flatbread or crab and lobster agnolotti. A pre- or post-prandial libation can be enjoyed overlooking the south lawn at 1215 Bar and Terrace or surrounded by wood and books at the atmospheric Library Club. At the other end of the food and beverage spectrum, fresh-pressed juices and healthy lunches can be enjoyed at Greens Café, which is located within the spa.

Speaking of the spa, Fairmont Spa & Wellness is a must-visit for whatever sort of pampering you require.
