Pack light for your São Paolo stay – you’ll want the space in your suitcase to bring home a new wardrobe. Hotel Emiliano is on Rua Oscar Freire, a street known for luxurious shopping. There, you’ll find international designers (think Louis Vuitton, Dior and Versace) alongside quintessentially Brazilian names like Reinaldo Lourenço, Glória Coelho, and Le Lis Blanc.
With 57 rooms (just two per floor), Hotel Emiliano feels calm and exclusive. Blonde wood, warm lighting and Italian leather sofas make for elegant accommodations that feel pleasantly cosy and private, and the staff are known for going out of their way to make your stay even better. Carrara marble bathrooms have temperature-controlled Japanese toilets and electronic bidets. Book a suite for a more elevated experience; upgrading is well worth the splurge. The Cube Suite features a heated pool in its living room and stunning views from its perch on the penthouse level.
Emiliano Restaurant has a superb brunch with a wide variety of options, as well as a breakfast menu so tempting it’s worth getting out of bed early for, with everything from Northeastern couscous to local cheeses to American-style pancakes. Later in the day, you’ll find contemporary cuisine with Brazilian influences, including plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items. For a pre- or post-prandial libation, head to the Lobby Bar or visit the champagne bar for over 80 types of bubbly to choose from, as well as a nice selection of caviar.
The only (admittedly surprising) drawback is the hotel’s lack of a pool, so the two outdoor Japanese baths in the secluded spa will have to do. While you’re there, indulge in the Relaxing Cocoa Ritual, which includes an organic cocoa facial and footrub, or try an anti-jet lag massage to revive yourself after a long flight.
If discretion is paramount and you simply cannot be seen, worry not – Hotel Emiliano has a guests-only helipad; you won’t even have to walk through the front door. For the rest of us, the hotel offers a peaceful place to relax and recharge in luxury before diving once again into the energy of the city.
