The resort's 42 villas come in one, two and three-bedroom variations. Each comes with its private outdoor area complete with pool (sizes vary) and plush loungers for sunbathing. Within, the villas are light-filled and airy, crisply decorated in shades of cream, taupe and beige with tastefully playful accents here and there. All have sea vistas, and – delightfully – views of both the sunrise and sunset. Nearly all have outdoor showers as well, and we particularly like the ones that come with private gardens.

Although the Eagles Villas are set on their own, guests can take advantage of all of the amenities at the larger Eagles Resort. The resort's remote nature means you'll have to schlep a little bit for activities outside of the immediate area, but thankfully there's plenty to do on-site. The in-house spa offers a fairytale-esque place to relax and rejuvenate – opt for a massage on the beach to make the experience even more heavenly. Two tennis courts and a well-appointed gym offer guests plenty of ways to stay fit during their stay alongside two stunning pools: one indoors, one out. An engaging kids’ club will keep younger guests entertained while their parents get some much-needed relaxation.
If you do wish to venture further, the Byzantine sites of Thessaloniki are about a two-hour drive away. The historic monastery Mount Athos is a 21-kilometre boat ride away – but do note that only men are permitted to visit, so consider that before applying for a pass.
