The Dan Tel Aviv Hotel has several highlights, first and foremost being its location overlooking the beach and the promise of spectacular views of the water and, further afar, picturesque Old Jaffa. You’ll be close to everything if you stay here: the Carmel Market and the city’s historic, hip neighbourhood, Neve Tzedek, are both a ten-minute walk away. Old Jaffa can be reached by foot along the seafront promenade, a stroll that will take about 30 minutes, longer if you stop at a cafe or two along the way.

Choosing a room is fairly straightforward, as you’ll no doubt want a view of the Med. That desire will put you in the Executive Sea View facing category, in which case we would recommend opting for the “New Executive Sea View” category. Mind you, if you’re in Tel Aviv for the nightlife – and we’re with you on that one – views may be of no consequence whatsoever. Dining here, as almost everywhere in Tel Aviv, is exceptional. The buffet breakfast in the hotel’s main dining room is outstanding (and Kosher) and opens at 6:30 am (perfect for the pre-dawn party crowd). The view over the beachfront is beautiful, and the restaurant opens for dinner as well. Otherwise, the flagship restaurant, Hayarkon 99, serves up to 40 guests at a seating. Book in advance, and expect the finest in terms of the food, service and ambience. Otherwise, the lobby bar has nibbles around the clock with drinks – alcoholic and otherwise – available.

The hotel has a vast outdoor pool, open seasonally, and an indoor one (also large) that’s open year-round. There’s a fitness centre that has some weight-lifting and aerobic equipment, but you wouldn’t be wrong if you eschewed all that for a jog on the beach or a long walk to Old Jaffa where boutiques, restaurants and cafes offer a lot to love.
