Continentale
Florence, Italy
About the hotel
"A chic hotel with a trendy reputation for attracting the young and fashionable, Continentale boasts glamorous accommodations in the very heart of Florence."
Florence is a place saturated with things to see and do and, if you plan on spending your days exploring, you could not pick a better-located hotel. It's about as close as you could possibly get to the Ponte Vecchio, while many other must-sees such as the Duomo and Uffizi are just a few minutes walk away. Once you've seen all that there is to see (if that's even possible in a place like Florence), you'll have scores of marvellous eateries and designer shops practically on your doorstep.
The hotel's location is reason enough to stay there, but its interior design is equally enchanting. Stylistically, the hotel channels the old-school glamour of the 1950s through its sleek, retro furnishings and a stunning... Show more
Florence is a place saturated with things to see and do and, if you plan on spending your days exploring, you could not pick a better-located hotel. Once you've seen all that there is to see (if that's even possible in a place like Florence), you'll have scores of marvellous eateries and designer shops practically on your doorstep.
The hotel's location is reason enough to stay there, but its interior design is equally enchanting. Stylistically, the hotel channels the old-school glamour of the 1950s through its sleek, retro furnishings and a stunning collection of black-and-white photographs that are showcased throughout. While unmistakably fashionable, Continentale manages to be so while also embracing a distinctly minimalist appeal. This manifests in the hotel's guest rooms which feel soothing and warm – exactly what you want after a day spent immersed in the vibrant hubbub of the city. The rooms capitalise on natural materials, and the combination of rich wood, ivory linens and wispy curtains give the spaces an ethereal feel. Upgrade a level or two, and you'll be treated to some killer views, the very best of which can be found in the Panoramic Consorti Suite.
There's no formal restaurant within the hotel, though there is a seasonal rooftop bar. Called La Terrazza, it’s a popular spot for both locals and hotel guests alike; breakfast is served here in the mornings, and in the evenings both the cocktails and the views are dazzling. You'll need to look elsewhere for your lunch and dinner, but thankfully (it being Florence) you won’t need to go far at all.
While children are permitted at the hotel, it's not particularly family-friendly. Best to leave the little ones at home and explore the city with a loved one – and do be sure to visit the hotel's White Iris Spa for an indulgent treatment while you're at it.
