The small Cheval Blanc hotel chain, managed by LVMH, is as exclusive as you would expect it to be – a glittering component of this legendary brand. The physical hotel buildings, referred to as Maisons, offer contemporary, creative spaces and accommodations with the utmost luxury in mind. Here too, art and design are at the forefront of the hotel’s overall style, and, of course, comfort and class are paramount here at the Cheval Blanc St-Tropez.

Check in and head to the sea. The private beach (with an infinity pool alongside it for those who don’t like sand) is laid out with comfortable, cushioned sun loungers, along with plenty of parasols for protection from the rays. Relax in style as you show off your designer swimwear, sunglasses and suntan. When you want a drink (or a nibble), simply raising your finger will alert the attentive staff you’re in need of sustenance, and it’ll be there in no time.

Choosing a room isn’t too challenging, as they are – all 32 of them, including the extravagant Villa Riviera – elegantly appointed and comfortable, and come with their own private balconies. Decorated in light, neutral colours with a hint of a nautical theme, rooms are extremely comfortable and lack for nothing. Expect that in a hotel of this size, everyone knows your name.

Take relaxation up a notch at the Cheval Blanc Spa. It’s on the small side, but the facilities include a hammam, snow shower, experience shower and an ice fountain, while there’s also a boutique selling Guerlain perfumes and cosmetics. There are four individual treatment rooms, along with one for couples, and the extensive menu includes everything for pure pampering. There’s a hair salon, as well, perfect for an elegant updo to go with that little black dress (or a tidy-up if you’re a gent).

Don’t miss the gym, which is outfitted with exercise spaces both indoors and out. The rest of the day (and night) is for you, and there’s a lot here to enjoy. Have breakfast al fresco on La Terrasse, situated under the pine trees in the garden with picture-perfect sea views. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served here, too, with a focus on healthy meals using locally sourced ingredients. Otherwise, book (ASAP) a table at the three-Michelin-starred La Vague d’Or, showcasing outstanding cuisine. There’s an enormous, decadent wine selection, bien sûr, so ask the sommelier for insight.
