There are just 36 rooms and suites at the hotel, and – upon setting foot within them – it becomes immediately apparent that each was lovingly and painstakingly designed. Colour takes centre stage within; not just any colour, but brilliant, jewel-toned shades set in royal purple, apple green and salmon. Accommodations – even at entry-level – are fabulously spacious and represent a welcome departure from a more traditional alpine aesthetic. Rough-hewn wood and stone are replaced by bold, contemporary furnishings, whimsical sheep statues take the place of deer antlers and polka dot patterns replace plaid. The crown jewel of Cheval Blanc’s collection is The Chalet: a four-floor wonderland that feels like the glamorous Alpine vacation home we all wish we had.
Meal times are festive affairs at the hotel, an ethos that is exemplified most especially in Le Restaurant de Cheval Blanc Courchevel. A vision set almost entirely in scarlet, this vibrant brasserie-style eatery is open for all meals of the day and is resplendent in modern art and whimsical touches. Open from noon until the late hours of the night, La Terrasse de Cheval Blanc boasts a crackling bonfire and fortifying, flame-cooked cuisine: making it the perfect spot for a lunch between ski runs. Standing in stark contrast with the brilliant reds of the hotel's signature eatery is Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc: an ethereal, spellbinding eatery that just so happens to be the only three Michelin-starred restaurant in Courchevel. Exquisite in all senses of the term, this restaurant – and the elegant French gastronomy to be found here – is absolutely not to be missed. Experiential dining extends to the hotel’s other eateries as well, whether that takes the form of enjoying canapes in an igloo at Carte Blanche or paying a visit to the bespoke Cigar Yurt.
Whether you choose to fill your days with adventure or relaxation, be sure to leave time for a visit (or two) to the magnificent Cheval Blanc Spa, in which you’ll find indoor jacuzzis, outdoor Russian Banyas and a marvellous assortment of treatments.
