Chateau d'Audrieu
About the hotel
"A dreamy getaway set in on fifty idyllic acres of parkland, Château d’Audrieu boasts romantic guestrooms, heavenly dining and a unique treehouse suite perched high above the ground."
The chateaux is set on fifty acres of parkland, including twelve acres of gardens designed by landscaper Louis Benech in 1985. The chateaux itself is a stately manor house that feels plucked out of a Jane Austen novel. The chateaux is set on fifty acres of parkland, including twelve acres of gardens designed by landscaper Louis Benech in 1985. The chateaux itself is a stately manor house that feels plucked out of a Jane Austen novel. You’ll find most of the property’s accommodations within, with one notable exception: the Luxury Tree House. Perched high in the treetops with a spiral staircase leading up to it, this whimsical stay is the grown-up version of every child’s dream, and is an uncommonly romantic spot for a couple’s escape. Back at ground level, the hotel’s rooms and suites are a vision of classical elegance. The interior design scheme is simple yet sumptuous, with grand headboards, exquisite wallpaper and stunning antique pieces. In some rooms, shades of scarlet take centre stage, while other accommodations favour a calmer periwinkle palette. Preserved historical elements like exposed wooden beams add to the sense of place, and fresh bouquets of wildflowers complete the country retreat ambience.
Chef Xavier Pouzin leads Le Séran Restaurant, where the simplicity of the garden’s produce is lovingly elevated to high-end gastronomy. Dine here and choose from menus with enticing names like “A Stroll at the Château”, “The Love of Good Food” or the dazzling seven-step “Epicurean Menu”. When the weather’s lovely, dine outside at La Terrasse, which is a particularly lovely spot for breakfast. The recently-relocated Le 1715 Restaurant-Bar is a handsome, Old World-feeling lounge resplendent with cosy furniture and original oak panelling. Visit throughout the day for drinks or a light bite whenever the inclination strikes. For the most quintessential Château d’Audrieu experience (and to take advantage of the property’s gorgeous grounds), opt for a picnic in the park. Pick whichever patch of the property speaks to you the most, and let the chef do the rest; you’ll be presented with wicker baskets packed full of delicious food and wine to be enjoyed in the fresh air.
