A stylish boutique hotel with an enviable address, Almanac Barcelona offers a chic stay in the heart of the city. The hotel’s address on the Gran Via places it just steps away from the iconic Passeig de Gràcia, putting Gaudí masterpieces like Casa Batlló and Casa Milà within easy walking distance. That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to local must-sees, with other spots like Plaça de Catalunya and the start of La Rambla reachable in just five minutes on foot. If you're in the mood for a longer, more leisurely stroll, both the Gothic Quarter and the Sagrada Família are less than half an hour away.

Ninety-one keys comprise the Almanac Barcelona, 31 of which are suites. Interiors are elegant and elevated, thanks to the creative expertise of award-winning design firm Jaime Beriestain Studio. The alluring spaces are set in organic shades, with a fabulous lack of superfluous distraction. All design accents feel very intentional: think a terracotta chevron throw pillow here, or a small gallery wall of carefully curated works there. Alluring lighting fixtures add a soft, ambient glow throughout, and a number of guest rooms feature private balconies or gorgeously framed windows. Upgrading to a suite is well worth it: these sophisticated spaces offer twice the legroom, and we're particularly fond of the built-in window nooks, which feature cosy daybeds set into alcoves with windows on three sides – creating the perfect little haven in which to curl up with a book or from which to simply watch the bustle of the city below.

Virens Restaurant is a bold, plant-forward concept from Michelin-starred chef Rodrigo de la Calle. Local, farm-to-table ingredients of the finest quality are showcased in a menu that leans heavily plant-based, though there’s a good selection of meat and seafood dishes as well. Dine here on delightful plates such as beet gazpacho with berries and iced coconut, potato gnocchi with green bean carbonara and kale kimchi pastries. Nearby, Virens Bar features a superb cocktail list alongside a menu of tapas, also curated by Rodrigo de la Calle. For a change of scenery, head upstairs to Azimuth Rooftop Bar, which boasts superlative views over the city to complement its craft drinks menu.

Also on the rooftop is a pretty pool where guests can indulge in a refreshing dip. Back inside, there's a treatment room for spa services alongside a small fitness centre that remains open 24 hours a day.
