If you’re reading this review and you’re under the age of 17, stop right here: Las Alcobas Napa Valley is an adult-only resort. Located on Main Street in St. Helena, this 1900’s estate-like property is only a brief stroll – or a bike ride – to the downtown city centre and the historic Beringer Winery.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll know you’re about to embark on a decadent holiday, as there is no reception desk per se, and you are never asked to formally check in. Rather, you are greeted and escorted to your room or suite (there are 68 in total), six of which are situated in the Victorian-style Acacia House where the bar and restaurant, Acacia House by Chris Cosentino, is also located. The restaurant has a pairing menu that’s worth trying if you’re here to explore local wines and delicious Californian fare.

The WC, in a separate area, houses a toilet with a heated seat and an automatic lid that opens when you walk in the room. Other amenities like handmade soaps and personal picnic baskets and many other nice touches are there everywhere you look.

When it comes to R & R, there’s a spa with four treatment rooms and a fitness centre with a studio that offers various classes, including yoga, bootcamp, pilates and the like. The outdoor heated pool, just steps away from the vineyards, has cushy lounge chairs and a fire pit and is a lovely spot to unwind, day or night.

Las Alcobas is the perfect location for those looking to explore (by rental car) the wineries, enjoy the restaurants and see the valley from Calistoga (eight miles away) to Napa (nineteen miles away). Its central location, as opposed to other resorts which are further afield, is perfect for those who wish to explore and get to know the area.
