From the moment you arrive, you’ll know you’re about to embark on a decadent holiday, as there is no reception desk per se, and you are never asked to formally check in. Rather, you are greeted and escorted to your room or suite (there are 68 in total), six of which are situated in the Victorian-style estate house. The remaining 62 beautifully appointed rooms have private balconies with sofas and gas fire pits that lure you into relaxing from the moment you walk in the door. The Vineyard View rooms offer stunning mountain views, while the Streamside Rooms are incredibly serene with York Creek running right past your terrace. You can choose the four- or eight-course tasting menu, or just order a few shareable plates a la carte to share with your travel companions. For something more casual, take advantage of the Poolside Service menu for a light meal and a refreshing cocktail. While none of the restaurants offer breakfast, a quick call to in-room dining (or a few taps on the iPad) will have a mouthwatering meal at your door in minutes.

Spa Alila blends ancient healing wisdom with artisanal local ingredients to create pampering treatments that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The resort also offers astrology readings, perfume-making experiences, sound baths and excursions for forest bathing at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. You can make the most of the beautiful weather here by joining a yoga class by the creek, a hands-on botanical class or an outdoor paint-and-sip class. The outdoor heated pool, just steps away from the vineyards, has cushy lounge chairs and a fire pit and is a lovely spot to unwind, day or night.
