Popularly known as ‘Thailand’s gem’, Koh Phi Phi is an enchanting paradise island nestled amidst the cerulean blue and emerald-green waters of the Andaman Sea. From swimming with tropical fish, snorkelling to spot black-tip reef sharks, and beautiful corals, unwinding with a relaxing couples spa, or just soaking in the sun at a private white-sand beach, the island has a ton in store for lovebirds!

Reaching Phi Phi Island

Almost equidistant from Krabi (42 km) and Phuket (46 km), Koh Phi Phi is accessible only by boat. You can take a public ferry or a speedboat from the main ports at Krabi (Klong Jirad Pier) or Phuket (Rassada Pier); the ferry ride takes about 90 to 120 minutes, respectively. It is pretty comfortable with refreshments available onboard. Alternatively, you can opt for a chartered speedboat transfer that could drop you right in front of your resort.

Where to stay in Phi Phi Island

The island has a number of hotels and resorts offering villas and superior rooms with breathtaking views of the Andaman Sea. The more luxurious properties such as Zeavola Resort and Spa, and Phi Phi Island Beach Resort are located a few kilometres away from the main pier. These have outdoor pools, private beach areas, and an in-house spa offering guests an unmatched Thai experience.

Explore the pristine waters

Perhaps the most popular feature on every Phi Phi Island itinerary is a long-tail boat ride- this is a great way to sail through the clear waters and check out the most scenic spots around the island. Consider visiting Bamboo Island (Koh Phai), the idyllic Maya Bay (of Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Beach” fame), Loh Samah Bay, Viking Cave, and Phi Phi Leh Lagoon to explore the picturesque beauty of the island. While you may choose to rent a speed boat, the long-tail boat trips are perfect for experiencing the laid-back charms of Koh Phi Phi and uncovering serene hidden beaches. Start early; you won't regret giving up on a few extra hours of sleep!

Tip: Pre-book a private boat through your hotel or a local tour company a day prior.

Unleash an adventure

Phi Phi Island tours are a great opportunity to unleash the explorer within you! Here, you can experience the breathtaking beauty of marine life in its natural form. Most boat drivers bring along snorkelling and diving gear and even encourage you to take a dip in the waters.

Whether you decide to feed fish from the comfort of your boat or jump into the water, nothing can beat the sight of a myriad of tropical fish swim toward you. Oh, and depending on how deep you venture, you might be lucky enough to spot corals!

Experience the island's nightlife

Groove into the party fervour after a long day of exploration. Phi Phi is known for its beach parties, BBQs, and fire shows, so make sure you experience the (crazy) vibe these islands have to offer! Koh Phi Phi Don is the main party strip, but the beach is small and gets fairly crowded.

Pamper yourself

The local market at Phi Phi Don is totally worth strolling on a sunny afternoon (or two!). Sip fresh coconut water and indulge in retail therapy as you make your way through stores selling beachwear, local art, and souvenirs. After all, who wouldn't want a keepsake from their honeymoon? The pier is lined with shops, cafes, and spas. Make sure you sample a Mai Tai at one of the many shacks and enjoy the sunset. Later in the evening, re-energize your mind and body with a spa session. At Phi Phi Island Village Resort, Zeavola Resort, and other luxury retreats, you can choose from a bouquet of wellness therapies: a signature Thai massage, a sensual aromatherapy massage, or the more indulgent His and Her packages.

Tip: If the spa is remotely located, ensure you pre-book your appointment and request your resort to arrange for a shuttle service.

Romantic retreat

After all the beach hopping and adventure, let the rejuvenation continue with a romantic stroll at the beach. Follow this with a candlelit dinner at the resort’s sea-facing restaurant, and soak in the romantic ambience as you relish some local delicacies!

Shoot your vacation

Think beyond taking selfies, GoPros, tripods, and requesting other tourists to click those perfect couple shots: honeymoon photoshoots are trending for a reason! They allow you to relax and enjoy the moment with your partner, while a professional works up some magic behind the lens.
