ASMALLWORLD invites members and their guests to join Ambassador Arthur Glass for a special ASW private sail on the 1885 schooner Pioneer.

Enjoy a thrilling 2-hour daytime sail through the stunning New York Harbor with fellow members, with small snacks and soft drinks. Guests can bring their own beverages (no hard liquor, only beer).

Before the sail, members will have the opportunity to visit the Seaport Museum and listen to the story of "Where New York Begins."

With an experienced crew at the helm, you’ll watch in awe as the sails unfurl and the ship glides effortlessly across the sparkling waters. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll even have the chance to lend a hand and help raise the sails yourself! But don’t worry if you prefer to sit back and simply soak up the breathtaking scenery—you’re welcome to relax on the deck and enjoy the ride.

About 1885 Schooner Pioneer
Pioneer was built in Pennsylvania in 1885 to carry sand and heavy cargoes along the Delaware River. Unlike almost all American cargo sloops and schooners that were made of wood, Pioneer was constructed with a wrought iron hull because she was built in what was then the nation’s center for iron shipbuilding. Today, she is the sole American merchant sailing vessel with an iron hull.
