About the venue
In 1876, the small tavern for marksmen on the Theresienwiese became the first marksmen's hall, and in 1926 it became the marksmen's festival tent, making it one of the oldest festival tents at the Oktoberfest. After the last renovation in 2015, the marksmen's festival tent shines in new splendour and now offers space for a total of 6,278 guests. This makes it one of the smaller beer tents, but its floor space, including the shooting range, makes it the largest tent at the Oktoberfest.

The industrious Reinbold family has been running the tent since 1979. Together, the Reinbolds have transformed “the Schützen” from its once unattractive peripheral location into one of the main attractions of the Oktoberfest, especially among the nationwide Schützen and the youth of Munich. The tent is popular and hip among young and old, especially among the regulars from the traditional restaurant “To the Franciscan“ which has always included celebrities, politicians and nobility.
