Vladimir Karparov was born in 1977 in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

From 1995 to 1999 Karparov studied at the State Music Academy “Pantcho Vladigueroff” in Sofia with a focus on jazz and pop music. With a scholarship from the “Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation”, Karparov began to study at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater (HfMT) in 1999. The longer he lives far away from his homeland, the more intensely he deals with Bulgarian folklore, which becomes a formative part of his music.

In 2001 Karparov moved permanently to Berlin, where he successfully completed his studies at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in 2005. Participation in various festival events, numerous concerts and awards in Europe, Asia, North Africa, Japan, Latin and North America, complete the picture of this versatile musician. He is considered to be one of the most promising talents on the Bulgarian jazz scene and has already received several awards for his work: among others in 1999 as “Best Young Jazz Musician in the Balkans” and also in 1999 with a prize at the international jazz music competition in Monaco.

In 2020 Karparov was awarded the prize of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria for his services to the dissemination and mediation of Bulgarian culture in the Federal Republic of Germany.
